The GeoEnviron Site Prioritisation Module is the ideal solution for managing the prioritisation of your potential Part 2A sites. The system consists of an SQL database (i.e. Microsoft SQL Server) and a seamless integration to GIS, facilities that allow for easy management , visualization and reporting of your potential contaminated land data.

The system provides you with a two stage prioritisation system. Stage 1 makes use of desk top based information (i.e. GIS layers) to allow you to rapidly prioritise your sites for INSPECTION. Stage 2 allows you better characterise your high risk sites (i.e.develop conceptual risk models) and prioritise them for ACTION.

The system allows you to quickly and easily to produce individual risk ranking reports for each individual receptor category (i.e. human health, groundwater, surface water, ecology/property) as recommended in CLR6. You have the added flexibility of being able to produce risk ranking reports based on the total combined receptor scores (i.e. HH + GW+ SW + EcoProp). The reports allows you to group the sites into Risk Categories (i.e. High, Medium, Low) depending on the risk score allocated to them. Because the prioritisation scores are calculated within the database, the generation of the risk ranking reports is instantaneous (i.e. takes a few seconds).

It includes a seamless integration to GIS (ArcGIS, MapInfo,GGP, Cadcorp, Microstation) to allow you to visualise your data. For example, when looking at a site within the GIS, all you need to do to bring up the record for the site in the database is to click on the polygon with the look up tool. Similarly whenever you query and retrieve a site record in the database, the GIS is automatically centred on the site, so you do not have to spend time and effort trying to locate the site manually.

The system includes extensive facilities to add user defined fields to the database so that you can add any type of information you consider relevant to a site record. You can also link site records to electronic documents and site photos.

Once you have prioritised your sites, you can if desired upgrade your system to the full Contaminated Land Module, so that you can take advantage of the extensive document and work flow management features available as you begin to work through your sites.

Features and benefits

The major benefits you will realise from implementing GeoEnviron include:

  • Enhanced strategic planning and workflow analysis - designed by environmental specialists the system incorporates prioritisation and decision support systems. In addition, GIS facilities are integrated into the core of the system.

  • Reliable data storage and management - the system employs high performance SQL databases for reliable and efficient data and document management as well as networking.

  • Enhanced 'electronic service delivery' - the system is 'web-enabled' allowing for the sharing of data via an intranet or the internet.

  • Quality support and continuous development - a total quality management approach is taken towards the delivery of support services. The system is subject to a programme of continuous improvement driven by users' requirements.

GeoEnviron can be installed as a client/server (multi-user) or as a desktop (stand-alone) application. We also support installation of the system on a virtual server (i.e. CITRIX, VMWare). Available Databases are Microsoft’s SQL Server (MSS) or Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere (ASA).
